Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

LearnGuage is a language-learning mobile application. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and how you can control it. Contact: learngua@learnguage.app

2. Data we collect

Account data

• Email address and password (password is stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider)
• Display name and chosen avatar
• Guest use — when you use the app without signing up, an anonymous account record is still created with our authentication provider. It contains no email address and no password; it holds only an identifier your learning progress and daily translation allowance are attached to. If you create an account, that same record becomes your permanent account; if you do not, you can delete it from within the app.
• Sign in with Google — if you choose Google sign-in, Google shares your account's email address, name and profile picture with us; nothing else from your Google account is accessed.

Learning data

• Selected native and target languages, self-assessed proficiency level
• Saved words and sentences you add while studying, including optional images attached to words
• Study statistics (streaks, correct-answer counts, memorized word counts)
• Reading and listening progress (which book/video you are on and how far you got)
• Reading preferences (font size, theme)
• Daily study goal, study minutes per day and streak
• Study reminder — if you turn it on, a daily reminder is scheduled locally on your device; no push-notification service is used and no data leaves your device for it

Advertising data

• Advertising ID — the app shows optional rewarded video ads. Google AdMob accesses your device's advertising ID to deliver and measure them and to prevent fraud. Watching an ad is never required to use any part of the app, and Premium removes ads entirely.
• Ad completion events — whether an ad was watched to the end. This is used only to credit the extra translation quota you earned; it is never linked to your saved words, reading progress or statistics.

What we do NOT collect

• No microphone/audio recordings
• No location data
• No contacts, photos, or files beyond images you explicitly attach to saved words
• No payment card details — subscription payments are processed entirely by Google Play; we never see or store card information

3. How we use data

Data is used solely to provide the app’s functionality: signing you in, syncing your learning progress across sessions and devices, and showing your own statistics back to you. We do not sell data. Your learning content — saved words, reading progress and statistics — is never used for advertising. We do not share your data with third parties except the service providers below.

4. Where data is stored (processors)

• Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage for the data listed above.
• Google Play — app distribution and subscription billing.
• RevenueCat — subscription status management on top of Google Play billing.
• Translation service (MyMemory) — when you tap a word or sentence for translation, the translation is done on your device first. If the translation model for that language pair has not finished downloading, the selected text is temporarily sent to MyMemory, a translation service operated by Translated S.r.l. Only the selected text is sent; it is not linked to your name, email or account. Once the model is downloaded, translation happens entirely on your device and this path is no longer used.
• YouTube (Google) — the listening module plays videos through the embedded YouTube player. YouTube collects playback data under Google’s own privacy policy.
• Google AdMob — serves the optional rewarded video ads and accesses your device's advertising ID for ad delivery, frequency capping and fraud prevention, under Google's own privacy policy. In the EEA and UK a consent form is shown before any ad.
• Cloudflare — offline translation models are downloaded from Cloudflare R2 through a Cloudflare Worker. Cloudflare sees your device’s IP address during the download; no account data is sent.
• Pixabay — when you search for a picture to attach to a saved word, the search runs on our server, but the images shown are loaded directly from Pixabay, so Pixabay sees your device’s IP address.

5. Data retention and deletion

Your data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account and all associated data yourself at any time from the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion takes effect immediately. If you can no longer access the app, email learngua@learnguage.app from the address registered to your account; deletion is then completed within 30 days. 6. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Server-side access is restricted with row-level security so that each user can only access their own data.

7. Children

LearnGuage is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child provided us data, contact us and we will delete it. Ads shown in the app are limited to the “General audiences” content rating.

8. This website

This website is a set of static pages. It uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking of any kind.

9. Changes

We may update this policy; the effective date above will change and material changes will be communicated in the app.
